Ashley,
If the manufacturing company provides them, then you will certainly be able to open them in TurboCAD. TurboCAD opens and edits far more file formats than most CAD software.

New pricing on the shop.

Is it possible to import manufacturers catalogues in Turbo CAD ? I know with the more expensive packages like Fusion Planit this is possible and makes it much easier to design and then order the parts required.

Thanks

Andrew,

If you go to Youtube and search for films by paulthecadtracey you will find about 25 that I have made. I think that I made 3 for AutoCAD users that were looking at DoubleCAD, these should help.

Also I have a training CD for DoubleCAD priced at £30, I’ve watch some of it and it seems very clear.

Hi thanks for the email and links. You mention on one of your pages that you have a free tutorial for converts from AutoCAD to DoubleCad I don't seem to be able to find the link can you point me in the right direction. I can see the merits of Double Cad but I seem unable to get to grips with it, that may be because I'm trying to switch from a very old AutoCad 2000. I only use 2D so nothing too taxing!

Kadri,

Yes, you will gain far more from the course if you have had a start. You will learn little coming in cold. Give me a call, buy the software and do a few training projects, the the day will be more useful.

Thanks Paul for the reply. Do I need to buy the software before coming for the training? I am planning coming for the training in September.

Kadri,

I’d say that you had three choices.

Go with TurboCAD Pro Platinum v18. Direct from me or via my shop it is £740 net, which is about as cheap as it comes and I’ll also throw in the training disks for both 2D and 3D. If you are new to CAD then while the 2D side of things will be fairly easy to learn, the 3D can be a bit of a steep learning curve, however the training book is excellent. I can talk through the main points with you over the phone at the start which will help. It’s my understanding that TurboCAD is used for quite large building projects in South Africa.

Your second option would be to buy TurboCAD Deluxe and Google SketchUp Pro, the pair would cost a little over £361 net. Here you would do all your initial planning and presentation in SketchUp, but he 2D plans, cutting lists etc in TurboCAD. The advantage of this solution is that the 3D side of things would be far easier to learn and edit where necessary. You can also easily create walk throughs and films. This system would be quicker for you to get up and running.

By far the best option is to buy both professional versions. This costs £1,000 net. You also get Shaderlight, (see the information on this site), thrown in essentially for free and I’ll still give you the training books and you are entitled to a free training day in Winchester.
You are always welcome to call to discuss.

It really depends upon on whether you want to do 2D and 3D or just 2D. I’d recommend that you draw in 3D as you can always view in 2D afterwards. It also depends on how you think that you might get on with drawing using a computer. I have to say this because now and again I get someone who is skilled in making things or putting them together, but finds it almost impossible to understand CAD drawing.

Without doubt the best path is to buy TurboCAD Professional. The package we offer new customers to TurboCAD is as follows.

Purchase TurboCAD Professional Platinum at £846.80 net.

We will give you both a 2D and a 3D training book containing tutorials both on the page and as audio video. There are also over 200 short videos explaining each tool.

Once you have understood the workings of 2D, we will arrange an hour’s introduction to 3D via the internet. We link up using a package called Netviewer and I can show you the practicalities of drawing in 3D. This will get you started that much quicker in 3D.

The next stage is to give me a call to arrange a training day. This will be in Winchester and be of a general nature, although we will have time to address specific issues relating to your requirements. There will be no more than six people on the course. There is no charge.

By the end of this you will have a good working knowledge of TurboCAD and be able to draw up a kitchen in 3D, print it off in several finishes and produce working 2D drawings from it.

Technical support is free.

However, if you feel that you’d prefer not to jump in with both feet and start with a less expensive package learning 2D at first, then going into 3D in time when you felt you understood 2D well, then we sell TurboCAD Deluxe, plus a 2D training book with videos at £100. This would also have 3D capabilities, but not to the level that you would ultimately require.

You are always welcome to call for advice.
